About Me

Hello! I am Audrey. Currently living in the midwest with my husband and our very sweet cat. I love window shopping, fitness, connecting with loved ones, prayer, and coffee with a croissant or danish. This blog was my Christmas gift to myself in 2020, and it's where I share things that have delighted me recently. Sometimes that's a good deal on a blouse, sometimes it's a particularly grueling workout, and sometimes it's a delicious recipe I just tried. Sometimes I discuss things that are important to me or confusing to me, and I discuss it the way I would with a friend. I would be so grateful if you would check in here often, and share me with a friend.

Fun facts about me

I am a big rereader and rewatcher. I would almost always prefer to pick up a childhood favorite and reread it than take a chance on a new book. And I would be very content to rewatch 30 Rock, The Great British Baking Show, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy anytime. I am also a firm believer in not finishing books. Life is too short, and there is no prize for finishing a book that you did not like.

I have worked on Capitol Hill as an intern in college and in Alexandria, Virginia, outside of Washington, D.C. with a full-time job after graduate school. My first part-time job was at Macy's in my hometown.

I was a dancer for my entire childhood, but since going to college, I have experimented with many different forms of exercise, and I'm currently in a love affair with Peloton classes on my stationary bike. I still love anything about ballet: movies, tv shows, documentaries.

I love classic fashions. I would always pick a slim black pant, black ballet flats, and an ironed but oversized white blouse rather than something trendy. I try to pay attention to trends, but I never invest in them. Affordable, fast fashion is good for trendy items. But spend a little and buy only a few good timeless pieces. Also, I am a firm advocate for black and navy going together: I promise that I am not color blind, and I'd be delighted to convince you.

My favorite bloggers to follow are Abra Belke and Carly Riordan. When I am on Instagram, I like checking in with Hitha Palepu.

I am a firm believer in talking about money. I think women should volunteer financial information to other women--especially more established women should volunteer information to women more junior in their careers. So, while I have you here: work on getting rid of debt (especially high-interest credit card debt); save-save-save-save (especially for retirement and start while you're young); diversify; and invest in yourself wisely (i.e., don't spend a ton on a degree that cannot make you a ton).

I have a tough time deciding if I am an optimist or a pessimist. I do think there's always something to be grateful for (sounds optimistic), but I can often frame it as "oh things could be so much worse!" (sounds pessimistic). Either way, I try to look for things to be grateful for, and it makes life enjoyable.

I am an ENFJ; I haven't figured out my Enneagram type; I'm a cancer-sun, capricorn-ascendant; and under Gretchen Rubin's framework, I'm an obliger. I love personality tests: please send me other ones to take!
